This week, the NTEU responed to Sydney University management's proposal to cut 340 staff accross the University.
Also, don't forget the NTEU All Staff meeting next ...
The NTEU believes that University of Sydney management are planning to make significant cuts to staffing levels. Management has not denied this. In fact, in their responses to press enquiries, management have confirmed that there would be “a reduction in expenditure” next year.
Recently, the NTEU wrote to the Vice Chancellor demanding urgent clarfication of university management's plans. The NTEU is meeting with university management on Monday 21 November to discuss their proposals.
We reject any rationale for staffing cuts. All of us know, more staff and better resourced staff are needed to ensure a high quality student experience and top level research output.
At a recent meeting of NTEU members, a motion was passed denouncing these cuts as unnecessary. Members believe any cuts are likely to impact negatively on research and the education of students and have a detrimental impact on staff morale and wellbeing.
All staff are invited to come to a meeting on Wednesday 30 November in Carslaw 273 from 1-2. We will hear a report of the meeting with University management and discuss our response to management's proposals.
