  1. What were you fighting for? Join 'The Great Badge Swap'

Posted 27 June 2011 by Paul Clifton (NTEU National Office)

Badges communicate an unspoken message. For over a century, Australians have worn badges to express their identity, solidarity, dissent, pride, anger, celebration, commemoration, protest, humour or hope.

Your badge is a snapshot of Australia’s evolving democracy. Your experience of wearing that badge is part of our history and future.

The Museum of Australian Democracy in Old Parliament House, Canberra, invites you to share the personal experiences or memories your badge represents. These badges and stories could become a permanent part of the Museum of Australian Democracy’s collection and feature in their exhibition Living Democracy.
